Q: What is thyroid hormone?
A: Thyroid hormone is produced by the thyroid gland. The two main thyroid hormones are thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine(T3). The thyroid hormone controls the body’s metabolism and has actions on almost every cell of the body. These hormones have effects on an individual’s weight, energy levels, internal temperature, skin, hair, nail growth, cholesterol levels, pregnancy, blood sugar control, bone health, and more.
Q: What are thyroid diseases?
